Connecticut Huskies vs. West Virginia Mountaineers
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 4-point home favorites over the UConn Huskies tonight. The over/under total for the game is set at 131. As important as the spread and total will be for college basketball bettors, grabbing the straight-up win is going to be huge for the eventual victor since a first-round bye in next week’s Big East Tournament is at stake.
The UConn Huskies are 21-7 overall and 13-9 against the spread. They last played on Sunday and beat Cincinnati as a 4-point road underdog 67-59. The win against Cincinnati ended a two game losing streak both straight up and against the spread. The games total was 127, and went der by just one point. It was UConns third consecutive game that ended der the total. The victory came on the heels of a disappointing loss at home in overtime to Marquette earlier in the week. Connecticut is 8-4 away from its home court this year and are 4-3 on the road in conference play.
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 18-10 overall and 11-14 against the spread. The Mountaineers are coming off a Sunday road win at Rutgers 65-54, where they were 3-point road favorites. The game ended der the total of 127 as well. The Mountaineers cleaned up on the glass with a 44-26 rebounding edge and defended the perimeter to the tune of the Scarlet Knights missing 12 of their 13 three-pointers. Sunday’s win snapped a three-game road skid for West Virginia. The Mountaineers are 10-2 at home this season, both losses coming to conference foes in St. Johns and Pittsburgh.
Last year UConn beat West Virginia 73-62 at home as 2-point favorites. The game went der the 137-point total. It was UConns third consecutive win over West Virginia. I believe that this streak will continue for the UConn Huskies. I am taking the 4-points in the game, believing that UConn will win quite handily on the road tonight. I am also wagering on the er in tonights game. Both teams will push the ball and gets off a lot of shots enabling the final score to surpass 131 points.
