Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Florida Gators

The Florida Gators are a 4-point home favorite against the Vanderbilt Commodores in SEC play this evening.  The over/under total for the game is 139.  This should be an very entertaining close game as the Florida Gators are the 23rd ranked team in the country and the Vanderbilt Commodores are right behind them and ranked 24th.

Vanderbilt is 15-5 this season with an 8-8 record against the spread.  They are coming off a poor performance against Arkansas; in a game they lost 89-78 at home, as a 13-point favorite.  Arkansas shot over 57 percent from the field, the highest percentage a team shot against Vanderbilt all season.  Vanderbilt only grabbed 21 rebounds in the game, they average 37 on the season.  Vanderbilt has only covered once against the spread in their last seven ball games.

Florida is 16-5 on the season, but only 7-10 against the spread.  They also got upset in their last game losing to Mississippi State 71-64 as a 7-point favorite.  Florida shot poorly in the game hitting under 40 percent from the field and was only 5 of 21 from 3-point range.  Adding to their problems was their free throw shooting.  The Gators missed 10 of their 19 free throws.

Vanderbilt will be without their leading rebounders Lance Goulbourne, who averages 7.1 boards per game.  Gilbourne is out with a severe ankle spread.  This is a key injury, as Vanderbilt will have a tough time inside against Florida.

This is the first meeting between the two schools this season.  Vanderbilt won both games played last season and covered in both as well.  The tal split last season.  Florida is 38-21 all-time at home against Vanderbilt.  I am going to take Florida minus the points in this game.  I believe that with Gilbourne out, the Gators should be able to dominate the boards.  Also, the home-court advantage will really help the Gators in this game.  They have proven to be a much better tam at home this season then on the road.  Make sure to log on to to place a wager on this nationally televised game.
