Temple Owls vs. Duke Blue Devils

The Duke Blue Devils are the #1 team in the country and are 13-point home favorites over the Temple Owls on Wednesday evening in a non-conference affair.  The over/under total for the game is 135.

The top-ranked Duke Blue Devils are 25-2 overall and 15-11 against the spread this year.  Duke has won six straight games and has covered in five of them.  Their only failure to cover was against North Carolina when they had a comeback win 79-73 as 10-point home favorites on February 9th.  Dukes last game was Saturday against Georgia Tech.  Nolan Smith scored 28 points and Kyle Singler chipped in with 15 points as Duke won 79-57 as 18-point favorites.  The 136 combined points went der the 146-point total.  The der is 5-1 in Dukes last six games.  Duke is 15-0 at home this season and has won 34 straight games at home last losing to North Carolina back in February of 2009.  Their home record against the spread this year is only 7-7.

The Temple Owls are 21-5 overall and 15-11 against the spread.  They are in second place of the Atlantic 10 with an 11-2 conference record.  Temple ranks 21st in the nation in scoring defense, only giving up 61 points per game.  They only allow 58.5 points a game at home, but allow 65.8 on the road. Temple will need a big game from guards Ramone Moore and Juan Fernandez to keep the game close.  Ramone Moore averages 15.4 points per game and leads the team in scoring.

Duke is 8-0 in their last eight games against Temple, but is just 4-4 against the spread verses them. Both teams have gone er the total recently in non-conference games.  Duke is 4-0 in their last four and Temple is 5-0 in their last six.

I am taking the er 135 in this game.  I believe that Duke will be able to score 75 or more points in this game. Duke could in fact more as I expect them to cover the 13-point spread as well.  Duke, in my eyes are the best team in the country and will not only win big tonight but also could be holding the trophy at the end of the season as National Champions of March Madness.
