Ohio. St. Buckeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers

One of the biggest games in the Big Ten season and before March Madness begins takes place this afternoon between Ohio St. and Wisconsin.  Wisconsin is a 1-point home favorite over the #1 team in the nation, the Ohio St. Buckeyes.  The over/under total for the game is 122.

Ohio St. has clearly shown that they are the top team in the nation winning its first 24 games this year.  Against the spread, the Buckeyes are only 11-10 on the season. Much of this teams success this season can be attributed to the phenomenal play of freshman forward Jared Sullinger. He is averaging a team-high 18 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 56.8 percent from the field.  Ohio St. is shooting 49.6 percent from the floor and 40.4 percent from 3-point range.  The Buckeyes are averaging 78 points per game. The Buckeyes have also been less than spectacular from the foul line, converting on just 68.5 percent of their attempts. Nonetheless, this team continues to make up for these weaknesses with a wealth of talent and solid all-around play.  Ohio St. is 2-3 against the spread in its last five games on the road but are 4-2 against the spread in its last six games overall.   The total has gone er in three of its last five games.

Wisconsin is 18-5 overall on the season and 17-7 against the spread.  Their conference record is 8-3.  The Badgers have won six of their last seven games coming into this one verse Ohio. St. In their last game they beat Iowa 62-59 in overtime as 7-point road favorites.  Jon Leuer leads the team in scoring with 19.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.  Wisconsin averages 70 points per game.  They shoot 44.6 percent from the field and 37.7 from 3-point range.  Wisconsin is an excellent free-throw shooting team at 82.9 percent from the line.  Wisconsin is 4-1 against the spread in there last five home games and 3-2 against the spread in its last five games overall.  The total has stayed der in four of its last five games.

Wisconsin has won three of the last five games against Ohio St., but Ohio St. is 3-1 against the spread in the last four.  The total has stayed der in the past seven games.  For this game I will stick with that trend and just take the der, which is at 122.  This game will have all the excitement of a March Madness game, but is being played in the month of February.
