North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Duke Blue Devils

The Duke Blue Devils are 10-point home favorites over their rival the North Carolina Tar Heels.  The over/under total is set at 156.  The winner of this game will be in first place in the ACC.

North Carolina is 15-5 on the season and 10-9 against the spread.  They have won ten of their last eleven games and are 7-1 in ACC play.  The Tar Heels have a five game winning streak both straight up and against the spread.  The offense has been scoring 85.6 points per game during that stretch and have only been giving up 79 points per game.  The last five games have gone er the total.  North Carolina last played on Sunday when they beat Florida St. 89-69 as 7-point home favorites.

Duke is the #5 ranked team in the country.  They are 21-2 overall and have a 12-10 record against the spread.  Duke has won their last two games since being embarrassed at St. Johns.  They bounced back by winning at Maryland 80-62 and by beating NC State at home 76-52.  The Blue Devils covered in both of those games as well.  Both games also went der.  Dukes defense has taken a step back this year, as they are only ranked 85th in nation giving up an average of 64.6 points per game.  Duke is 13-0 at home this year and 6-6 against the spread at home.  Duke in fact has won 32 straight games at home and hasnt lost since February of 2009, which was to North Carolina.

Duke went 2-0 against North Carolina last year and covered in both games.  When Duke was home last year against North Carolina, Duke smashed North Carolina 82-50 as 15-point home favorites.  The der is 3-0 in the last three meetings between Duke and North Carolina.

My selection in this game is to take the 10 points and North Carolina.  Although, I feel Duke will win the game and dont feel like they are 10-points better the North Carolina.  I expect Duke to win a tight game.  I will also take the der.  The last three have gone der and I will stick with that trend.
