Los Angeles Clippers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder is 8-point home favorites tonight when they take on Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers. The over/under for the game is listed at 207. Kevin Durant leads the NBA in scoring but the most exciting player in the Western Conference could be slam-dunk king Blake Griffin. The two superstars hook up tonight-in Oklahoma, which is Griffins hometown.
Griffin has helped transform the traditionally pathetic Clippers into a respectable unit that is 11-11 in their last 22 games. Griffin has posted 46 double-doubles and ranks fourth in the league in rebounds at 12.6 per game and 12th in scoring at 22.8 points per contest. Los Angeles is just 21-35, but poised to make a move with center Chris Kaman back and Eric Gordon, who ranks ninth in scoring at 24.1 points per contest, expected to return soon. Kaman played for the first time in the Clippers last game this past Wednesday since December 5th . Kaman played nine minutes and scored four points and pulled down six rebounds with three blocked shots in Los Angeles 98-90 road win against Minnesota. It was just the Clippers 5th road win this season. The Clippers were 1-point road underdogs in the game. The Clippers held the Timberwolves to 35.4 percent shooting from the floor and forced 16 Minnesota turnovers. Griffin had 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists along with a handful of dunks. Tonight is the Clippers ninth consecutive road game, they have gone 2-6 overall and 3-5 against the spread. The Clippers are 3-10 against the spread in its past 13 away games.
Oklahoma City has the 4th best record in the Western Conference at 35-19 and has a four-game lead on Portland in the Northwest Division. The Thunder has won seven of their last ten games, but is just 5-9 against the spread in there last 14 games. The Thunder are 8-3 against the spread in its last eleven games against a team with a losing record.
The Clippers have covered in ten of their last eleven games in Oklahoma City. Los Angeles is 16-6 against the spread in its last 22 games against the Thunder. This includes the first meeting this season, which the Clippers won, 107-92, as 8-point home underdogs on Nov. 3. The combined 199 points went er the 196-point total.
Tonight, I am taking the Thunder to cover against the Clippers. My reasoning for this is that they will be looking for revenge after losing to the Clippers in Los Angeles. Also, I expect Blake Griffin to be worn down after being the featured player during all-star weekend. This is also the Clippers ninth consecutive road game.
