Chicago Bulls vs. Portland Trailblazers
The Chicago Bulls are 2-point road favorites when they travel to Portland to play the Trailblazers this evening. The over/under total is set at 183. The Chicago Bulls have won their last nine games verses the spread on Monday nights. As good as the Bulls have been this year, they are only a .500 team on the road. The Bulls however do have a home record of 23-4, which is the best home record in the Eastern Conference.
The Bulls, who are currently on a west coast trip, are 1-1 overall and 1-1 against the spread. They won their opening game against the Los Angeles Clippers but lost Saturday evening at Golden St. 101-90. The stars for this team really do shine on a regular basis. We know that this lineup will look a lot more intimidating once Joakim Noah gets back in the fold, but for the time being, throwing Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer and Derrick Rose out there at the same time in the starting five is pretty amazing. The three are combining to average 62.0 points per game this year, making them one of the highest scoring trios in the NBA. Carlos Boozer is also averaging a double-double this year now that he is grabbing 10.2 rebounds per game.
The Portland Trailblazers are a very good home team. They are 10 games over .500 at home. Last week they beat the team with the best record in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs, 99-86 at home. Portland is glad to be home tonight because this home game is sandwiched between six road games. In those first 3-road games, the Trailblazers only beat the Cleveland Cavs. In that win against Cleveland, Portland netted three scorers with at least 20 points on the day. Wesley Matthews was the high scorer for the game pouring in 31, while LaMarcus Aldridge added 20 and Nicolas Batum had 21.
Earlier in the year, Portland lost to the Bulls 110-98. The home team has won and covered in three straight in this series. The Bulls have not won in Portland since 2007 and are just 5-11 in Portland since 1993. I am going with the Trailblazers plus the points in what I believe to be a solid pick this evening.
