Portland Trailblazers vs. Phoenix Suns
The Portland Trailblazers travel to the Phoenix Suns Friday evening in a Western Conference Showdown. Sportsbook.com has made the Phoenix Suns a 1-point home favorite with the over/under total set at 199.
The Phoenix Suns have gone from one of the elite teams in the NBA to a team that is trying to find their identity and just make the playoffs. Since making a 6-player trade with the Orlando Magic and revamping their roster they have gone 3-9. In the last 17 games the Phoenix Suns have covered just 4 times and in their last ten home games they have only covered twice.
Brandon Roy, the Portland Trailblazers All-Star guard has missed the last twelve games and wont be back anytime soon. Amazingly though the Trailblazers have gone 8-4 in those games. Portland is currently sitting in the 8th position in the Western Conference playoff race. Portland has lost their last two games. One was an overtime lost to the Miami Heat where they put up a great effort and the other was on Tuesday night when the New York Knicks blew them out.
Last season the Phoenix Suns eliminated the Portland Trailblazers in the playoff in six games. This year however the Portland Trailblazers are 3-0 against the Phoenix Suns. This is the fourth and final regular season meeting between the two reams. In their three prior games this season, Portland has held Phoenix to an average of 95 points per game, which is eleven points less than the Phoenix Suns average for the year.
In the opening game of the season the Trailblazers beat the Suns 106-92 covering as a 6.5 home favorite. In the teams second game Portland defeated Phoenix 106-99 as a 2.5 home favorite and in the third game Phoenix was a 5-point home favorite and lost again, this time 101-94. I feel that the Portland Trailblazers have the Phoenix Suns number this year and will win again for their 4th straight victory against the struggling Phoenix Suns. I will take the Portland Trailblazers plus the 1-point and will not place a wager on the over/under due to the fact that Phoenix is a high scoring team but averages eleven less points against the Trailblazers then they do against the rest of the league.
