Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are listed as a 2.5-point favorite over the Orlando Magic in this NBA marquee match-up.  They last played on Christmas Day, when the Orlando Magic made a real statement by beating the Boston Celtics 86-78 at home.  It was the teams first meeting of the season.  In last years playoffs the Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic.

The Boston Celtics seek revenge from their defeat on Christmas.  Orlando won their last game on Saturday beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-99.  This is the Orlando Magics fifth game on a road trip that has lasted over a week and a half.  Orlandos offense has been extremely efficient.  They are scoring 107.5 points per game since December 23rd, when they made a trade getting Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu.  Jason Rickardson has been scoring 15.3 points per game since he got traded from the Phoenix Suns and has scored over 19 points a game in his previous four games.  Hedo Turkoglu has been scoring 11.6 points per game since getting traded to the Magic.   Dwight Howard, without question is the leader of the team.  Howard is averaging 21.7 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game this season and is clearly an MVP candidate.  Boston however was able to limit Dwight Howard to 6 points in their last encounter.

When Boston beat Orlando in December, Kevin Garnett scored 22 points, but he probably will not play in this game due to a calf injury.  Garnett has missed the previous eight games.  Other Celtics who are injured for this game is Jermaine ONeal, Delonte West and Kendrick Perkins.

The Celtics have the best defense in the NBA, holding teams to an average of just 92 points.  They also lead the league in field goal percentage shooting over 50 percent for the season.  The Celtics won their last game Friday at home over the Charlotte Hornets.

I am taking the Orlando Magic plus the 2.5 points in this game.  I am extremely concerned about the Celtics lack of depth in this game.  They have no production from their bench with the only healthy body being Nate Robinson who averages just a little over six points per game.  Orlando will motivate and ready to head home with a road victory.  Take the Magic +2.5 points at Sportsbook.com.
