Oregon Vs. Auburn
On Monday January 10, 2011 undefeated Oregon will be taking on undefeated Auburn for the BCS national championship game. It will be a battle of two high powered offenses that haven’t lost a game all season.
Oregon however will have the edge of speed over Auburn that is why I am recommending taking Oregon and the points. Oregon is currently a slight underdog with a current line of +3. Oregon should be able to win this game outright and with the added points this pick is a no brainer. If you want to make it more interesting parlay it with the OVER of 74. This is going to be an offensive showdown with each team matching touchdown for touchdown. Both teams should have no problem scoring in the mid 30s to lower 40s. In recent BCS bowl game history when two teams have similar talent the faster team normally has the advantage.
Recent Bowl Game victories of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Texas and USC have shown that speed is more important that strength in modern spread offenses. Another advantage for Oregon will be special teams. Oregon will win the field position battle setting up their offense for easy scores. In 2010, Oregon’s Cliff Harris average 17 years a return and ran back 4 punts for touchdowns. On kickoffs, Josh Huff is averaging 25 yards a return and ran back an 80 yard touchdown score. The combination of speed, offense, and special teams will be too much for Auburn to handle. Not to mention that Oregon will be getting three points. This should be a no brainer. Parlay the Oregon win with an OVER of 74 and you will have a very happy national championship game. The game will be close with both teams going back and forth but the final score will be Oregon over Auburn 42-35
