Louisville Cardinals vs. Villanova Wildcats

The Louisville Cardinals travel to Pennsylvania to play the Villanova Wildcats in Big East action.  The Louisville Cardinals are 13-2 this year but lack a huge win over any top teams.  The Villanova Wildcats are the #7 team in the country and have won fourteen of their first fifteen games. Odds-makers have made Villanova a 4-point home favorite with the over/under set at 148.

The Louisville Cardinals are a very well rounded squad.  Louisville is 12th in the nation in points per game, and they are 16th in the nation in field goal percentage.  Villanova has one of the best backcourts in the country.  Corey Fisher and Corey Stokes are their two best players.  The Villanova Wildcats are also one of the top defensive teams in the country.  Villanova is the 11th ranked team in the nation in field goal percentage and seventh in the nation in the nation in three-point field goal percentage defense.

This game will be the seventh times these two teams have played each other in Big East action.  Each team has won three games.  Last season Villanova beat Louisville 92-84 in their only match-up.  Both teams are undefeated in Big East play this year making this game that much more important.  Both teams will look to push the ball and play at a frantic pace.  Based on last years match-up and both teams likening to pushing the ball I feel like the game will be high scoring and get over that 148 number.  The home court advantage also should give the Villanova Wildcats the advantage.  They are the more mentally tough team as well and should prevail with their exceptional guard play.
