Kentucky Wildcats vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
The Kentucky Wildcats are a 5-point road favorite when they travel south to Tuscaloosa, to face the Alabama Crimson Tide. The over/under is listed as 131. The #12 Kentucky Wildcats have a 14-3 record and are 7-5 against the spread. This will be Kentuckys second road game in SEC play this year. In their only other road game they lost 77-70 to Georgia as 5-point road favorites. Alabama is 10-7 on the year and 5-8 against the spread and have had some bad losses this year, which include St. Peters and Iowa. In both of those losses Alabama were 8-point favorites and lost the game outright.
The Kentucky Wildcats lacks any form of depth, the usually only play six guys. Their three leading scorers are all freshman. Terrence Jones is their leading scorer with 18.6 points per game. Followed by Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb who score 17.5 and 13.8 respectively. Kentucky is 2-2 in their four road games this year and 2-2 against the spread. Last year in SEC road play they were 6-2 and 5-3 against the spread. Although this year is completely different after five players from the Wildcats left to go play in the NBA. Kentuckys past two games went der and the der is 8-4 on the year.
Alabama has a first year coach in Anthony Grant. Alabama got off to a rough start but have won five of their last six games and are 4-1 against the spread in those games that were listed. The only loss in the last six was on Saturday at Arkansas when they lost 70-65 as a two-point underdog. Alabama had won their prior two SEC games and covered both as well at Mississippi St and home to South Carolina. Alabama ranks 10th in the SEC in scoring at 67.5 points per game. Kentucky leads the league scoring 80 points per game and Alabama leads in defense only giving up 56.8 points per game.
The Crimson Tide match-up well against Kentuckys size. They lost both meetings last year to Kentucky but covered the spread in both games. The der is 5-1 in the last six games these two played at Alabama. Seems to me with these trends taking Alabama and the der is the way to go. Those will be my plays, Alabama plus five points and under 131
