Australian Open Day 8 Preview and Picks

Another perfect day, as we go 3-0 and improve our tournament record to an impressive 16-5 record.  We are officially hot, as we have not lost a match in the last four days.  Continue to follow the picks and make sure to log-on to to make some easy money.  Sit back and enjoy the tennis from Melbourne.  Today, we will focus on three ladies matches.

Iveta Benesova +550 vs. Vera Zvonareva -900

Iveta Benesova is one of four unseeded players through to the fourth round in the bottom half of the bracket.  She has done it playing some superb tennis.  She was extremely impressive in beating the 18th seed, Maria Kirilenko in the second round, 6-3, 6-1.  This is the furthest Benesova has gotten in a Grand Slam.  Look for it to come to an end right her when she faces the #2 seed Vera Zvonareva.  Zvonareva reached the finals of her last two Grand Slams at the US Open and at Wimbledon.  I expect Vera Zvonareva to move through Benesova quite quickly and to win in straight sets

Petra Kvitova -180 vs. Flavia Pennetta +150

Petra Kvitiva broke the hearts of all Australians when she beat the home crowd favorite Samantha Stosur in her third round match.  Kvitova is a 6-foot powerful, lefty.  Her game has improved greatly and that is evidenced with her making the semifinals of Wimbledon last summer.  She also won the tournament in Brisbane right before the start of the Australian Open, beating four ranked players.  Flavia Pennatta needed to rally to beat Shahar Peer in her 3rd round match and is one win away from reaching her first Grand Slam quarterfinal.  Pennetta holds a 3-1 record against Kvitova, although Kvitova won their last match, which was in the finals of Bejing last fall.  I will go with Kvitova in this match, as she has been the player in better form this early in the season.

Agnieska Radwanska -150 vs. Shuai Peng +130

Last year at the US Open Shuai Peng beat Agnieska Radwanska.  Radwanska will be out for revenge in this tournament.  Radwasnka has played good tennis in her first three rounds but has yet to be tested.  This match she will certainly be tested.  I don’t expect Peng to upset Radwanska for a 2nd time in four months.  Look for Radwanska to win in three sets.
