Australian Open Day 10 Preview and Picks
Its like ground hog today around here. Our consecutive undefeated streak has reached six days. Going 2-0 yesterday has brought our tournament record to an impressive 21-5. I really hope all of you have been placing your wagers at sportsbook.com and making those extra dollars. Today, we continue our plays with two mens quarterfinal matches. Both favorites have high odds in these matches.
Andy Murray -900 vs. Alexander Dolgopolov +500
These two have only played once and that was five years ago in Davis Cup play with Murray winning. This is by far Dolgopolvs finest moment reaching the quarterfinals. He was a 10/1 underdog when he beat the 4th seed Robin Soderling in the 4th Round on Monday. If Dolgopolov was to pull off the upset against Andy Murray he will be one of the most surprising players ever to reach an Australian Open semi-final. I don’t believe that will happen. Andy Murray has been playing tremendous tennis. He beat #11 seed Jurgen Meltzer in just over 90 minutes on Monday. Murray is well rested and extremely motivated to win his first major. Look for Murray to dominate and win in 3-sets.
Pick-Murray in 3 sets
Rafael Nadal -1000 vs. David Ferrer +600
On paper, this should be a walk in the park for Rafael Nadal, as he holds an 11-3 record over David Ferrer, and has won the last 10 sets they have played. However, I don’t think this match will be as easy for Nadal as most think. He is a big favorite, and deservedly so after winning the last three majors. Some people believe that Nadal is on his way to the greatest player of all-time status and will surpass Roger Federer in majors won. David Ferrer is a dangerous player who will not give up to the last point. That being said, he does not have the weapons to beat Nadal in a three out of five set match. Look for Nadal to drop one set but he will prevail and head to the semi-finals. Meaning he will be two matches away from holding all 4 Grand Slam titles at the same time.
Pick-Nadal in 4 sets
