Denver Broncos Hosting the Houston Texans

The 2010 season is winding down and the playoff races are heating up but Denver and Houston have already been eliminated. So why bet this game who’s outcome is inconsequential to the playoff picture? I think it’s a great bet that’s why I’ll be putting money on it.

Houston is favored by 3 points and the Over/Under is 48.5. To start with I love the over. The Texans are a talented offense that can put up 30 on anyone. Denver’s defense is anything but great and should have no problem giving up a whole bunch of points to Houston. Denver on the other hand is starting Tim Tebow again and he had a pretty impressive game last week and scored plenty. This week he goes up against arguably one of the worst secondaries in the league so no matter how inefficient his passing game looked last week he should have plenty of opportunity to hook up with with his receivers.

Another reason I love the Over on this one is because the Texans are on the road. What? Yes normally one would look at this as a reason for them not to score as much but the Texans have consistently scored big in away games. Not so much at home.

I like this match up so much I will parlay both the Over with Houston to cover the 3 point spread. I see points going up early and often for both teams but in the end Denver should falter as the defensive line of Houston will be in Tebow’s head. Since Denver has no real running threat the defense will tee off on Tebow and should get to him plenty which will cause him to make poor decisions in the later half. Who knows maybe even the befuddled Houston secondary can get a late pick allowing Matt Shaub to put this one away. Although the game should actually be pretty close, possibly even back and forth, Houston prevails in the end by at least 4 or 5 points.
