Rams look set to take NFC West

Have you ever thought you would see a team win their division with a losing record?  No, you say – well you might see it happen this season thanks to the NFC West.  This is clearly the worst division in the NFL, and none of the four teams in the division look at all impressive.  However, one of them has to win the division.  So, who will it be?

In most divisions, the San Francisco 49ers would be an afterthought.  In the NFC West, they have +450 odds on Sportsbook to win the division.  This is the team most experts predicted to win the division this year.  Even against such poor competition, that seems unlikely.  Had a game, or two, gone their way earlier in the year maybe it would happen.  Alas, at this point it is too late for them.

The Arizona Cardinals, meanwhile, have a horrendous quarterback situation.  They have to choose between Derek Anderson and Max Hall.  They might be better snapping the ball directly to their running back.  However, starter Beanie Wells can’t stay healthy.  This team’s odds don’t look good.

That leaves the Seattle Seahawks and the St. Louis Rams.  Last season, the Rams went 1-15 and are starting Sam Bradford, a rookie quarterback.  This season, they are the pick here to win the division.  They have a pretty good defense, and they have a great running back in Stephen Jackson to rely on.  The Seahawks definitely could take it, but their offense doesn’t seem potent enough to pull it off.  The Rams may finish 8-8, but that should be enough to win this lousy division.
